Department of Lay Ministry
Just like the Church at Antioch, helping God’s people put feet on their faith.
Because we believe God places a desire to make a difference in our hearts, it is our joy to equip God’s people to proclaim His kingdom. This is work that Jesus first gave to the apostles–commissioning them to say and do the things He had said and done. In fact, He said that because He was returning to the Father, He would send the Holy Spirit who would empower them to do even greater things than He. This work has been passed down in the church through the centuries. Today, it is our honor to place our hands in God’s to accomplish this work and to train up the next generation so that they, too, can enter into God’s work.
The Department of Lay Ministry offers the following services to help you discover how and where God has gifted you for ministry:
• Help in discerning God’s hand shaping your life through an evaluation of your activities, passions, and employment.
• An assessment tool to help you discern how God has gifted and motivated you to serve the body of Christ.
• The opportunity to try out different ministries, to “sip at service,” determining if they might indeed be those “good works” that have been ordained just for you.
Please contact Diane Hawkins, Director of Lay Ministry, at 522-1712, ext. 215, or Karen Kusko, Adult Discipleship Vestry Representative, at 846-8745. They would be delighted to assist you.
