Preschool and Kindergarten

(Ages 2-4 Years and Kindergarten)

Called by God to bring academic excellence and the teachings of Jesus Christ to young children in our parish and the community, we are located in historic downtown Beaufort. Our classrooms integrate all of God’s children who are developmentally ready for a group program. Small class size will allow for positive peer interaction and creative class programming with lots of fun and love. Children will hear the Word of God as they learn and explore in the classroom. Through a Christian curriculum, students will develop skills in the areas of language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, art, music, and motor development. Instruction will include whole group, small group, and individual lessons designed to address each child’s gifts and needs. Our teachers are dedicated to nurturing each child to advance spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally.

Parents know best as to how many mornings a week are suitable for their student, so we offer a program of “flexible scheduling” where parents can decide the number of mornings of school per week. All our classes are single-age classrooms; there are no multi-age classrooms. Each class is staffed with a lead teacher and an assistant. Many of our lead teachers have earned a Masters degree with a Bachelor degree being the minimum requirement. All the teachers are experienced in ministering to preschool-age children in a Christian environment. School hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for 2, 3, and 4 year-olds; kindergarten hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Historically, our Preschool has ministered to many military families. In order to affirm these military families and promote this ministry, our Preschool offers a 40% discount on tuition for active duty military families. There are also scholarships available for families with a financial need.

Begun in September 2009, the Preschool includes a Kindergarten for 5-year-old children. The Kindergarten offers a classical, Christian model of education through the implementation of the Trivium curriculum, an instructional model that approaches the study of subjects in a way that fits with natural learning patterns and tailors content to a child’s cognitive development. The Kindergarten children learn to read using phonics and use a pre-primer and primer to practice reading. For arithmetic, children are aided in acquiring the necessary skills using a variety of manipulatives in a systematic approach. The joyful sounds of children singing, chanting, and memorizing are heard as part of their learning experience.
