Student Ministries

(6th-12th Grades)

The purpose of Student Ministries is to build a safe, friendly community in which students can explore and develop their relationship with Jesus Christ. As an integral part of the life of St. Helena’s, we encourage our students to use their spiritual gifts to edify the church body. We have a variety of recreational, community-building, and service opportunities available to students throughout the year.

Our Student Ministries programs generally meet in the Youth Suite on the second floor of the Parish House. Our middle school program is for students in grades 6 through 8, and our high school program is for students in grades 9 through 12.

If you are interested in learning more about our programs, please contact Tim Edwards, Director of Student Ministries, at 522-1712, ext. 218, or at tedwards@islc.net. Also watch The Weekly Herald for announcements, or better yet, check our Student Ministries website at smash1712.org.

Sunday School for Middle & High School Students

9:15 a.m.-10:00 am.
Youth Suite
(September 12, 2010-May 22, 2011)

Our Sunday school classes provide an opportunity for our teens to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and His Word. This year, our younger students will study the Book of James. The older youth will use Scripture as the foundation for a study on our Christian faith. We will prayerfully equip our teens to stand firm on its truths and confident in its defense.

W.A.S.H. Program for Middle & High School Students
6:15 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Youth Suite
(September 15, 2010-May 18, 2011)

All middle and high school students meet in the Youth Suite for our Wednesday night program. This is a great opportunity for teens to make new friends and develop new relationships. We gather in the main room for hilarious and sometimes gross games, skits, and awesome music. We then separate middle and high school students for our weekly “talk” time, where we discuss issues that pertain to teenagers’ lives (i.e., self image, family and peer relationships, decision-making, etc.). All topics are addressed through the lens of Scripture.

Tutoring Ministry
Thursdays
3:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Youth Suite
(Beginning September 30, 2010)

For any youth who have a heart for young children in our community, we will be offering tutoring for children living in the Parkview Apartments and Northwest Quadrant. We will be sharing Bible stories, games, tutoring, and food to help them get ready for each Friday's big test and, most importantly, to share with them how much Jesus loves them.
