To all who are spiritually weary and seek rest; to all who mourn and long for comfort;
to all who struggle and desire victory; to all who sin and need a Savior;
to all who are strangers and want fellowship;
to all who hunger and thirst after righteousness; and to whoever will come–
this church opens wide her doors and offers her welcome
in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Resolution on Evangelism and Missions
Adopted by the Vestry April 17, 2007
We, the wardens and Vestry of St. Helena’s Church, believe and profess the Christian faith to be a missionary mandate in obedience to the “Great Commission” of our Lord Jesus Christ ‘to go and make disciples of all nations.’ In pursuit of this commission, we have adopted a vision ‘to be like the church at Antioch.’
Therefore be it resolved that this parish acknowledge as its first priority its obligation to be Christ’s witness to its own membership, the wider Beaufort community, our country and to the ends of the earth as called and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
And be it further resolved that this missionary mandate shall be the criterion by which all decisions regarding staffing, programs, outreach and finance shall be weighed and determined.
Parish Prayer
Almighty God, in your great mercy, pour your Holy Spirit into this congregation and its leadership so that those in our midst who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ will come to know Him, that those who know Him will be inspired to greater and more dedicated service, and that we all will be given a spirit of humility and fearlessness, for the sake of Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
